Moderating posts and members

Updated October 15, 2026

Approve held posts, act on reports, pin, edit or remove posts and comments, ban a member for a set time, and block someone from buying.

Moderation is the everyday work of keeping your community's feed worth reading: deciding what gets published, answering reports, and dealing with the people who spoil it. Most of it happens in two places: the Content section of Settings, and the … menu on each post in the feed.

Before you start

  • Each part has its own permission, which the owner can hand to a moderator through roles: Hide & remove posts and comments (held and hidden posts, removing posts), Review reports (Reported Posts) and Ban & unban members. The community owner has them all.

Posts waiting for approval

When Auto-approve posts is off in General Settings, members' new posts don't appear until you publish them. Posts by admins are never held. When a member edits a post while approval is on, the edit is held as well.

  1. Open Settings → Content → Posts Pending Approval.
  2. On each post, click Approve to publish it or Decline to reject it.

Caution

Decline deletes the post permanently, together with any scheduled entry or live stream linked to it. There's no draft to send back.

Reported posts

Any signed-in member can report a post from its … menu → Report, choosing a reason: Spam, Harassment, Rule Violation, Discrimination, Inappropriate Content, Fraud, Flaming or Other. A member can report a post only once.

Settings → Content → Reported Posts lists what's been reported, with the Author, the Post, when it was Reported, the Reason, and how many Times. Several reports on one post are grouped into one row.

For each row:

  • Delete post removes the post and closes the report.
  • Ignore closes the report and leaves the post up.

To deal with the author too, ban them from the post itself (below). Only posts can be reported — not comments or profiles.

Hidden posts

Settings → Content → Hidden Posts lists posts that are kept out of the feed, with the author, the post title (it opens the post in a new tab) and when it was posted. Restore publishes one back to the feed; Delete removes it for good.

Acting on a post in the feed

Open the … menu on a post:

Action What it does
Pin to Featured / Unpin post Pins the post to the top of the feed, marked Pinned. Move Up / Move Down reorder pinned posts.
Edit Edit the post. Open the post to edit someone else's.
Remove Post Deletes it after a confirmation.
Ban Author / Unban Author Bans or unbans the person who wrote it (below).

On a comment, the delete icon removes it ("This action cannot be undone"). Admins can delete any comment but edit only their own.

Admins can also pin a post while writing it, and lock a single post behind a rule with Select Rule in the composer — see Badges, rules & paid access.

Notifying everyone

Mention @everyone in a post you write as an admin and every member gets a push notification. Scheduled posts don't send it. Use it sparingly — it's the loudest button you have.

Banning a member

Note

You ban from a post: Ban Author is in the menu of a post the member wrote. It isn't there on your own posts or on posts shared into your community from another one. If the member hasn't posted anything, remove them instead.

  1. On one of their posts, open … → Ban Author.
  2. Pick a Reason — it fills in a Reason Text you can edit — or choose Custom.
  3. Pick a Ban Time: 1 Hour, 6 Hours, 12 Hours, 1 Day, 7 Days, 30 Days, One Year or Permanent.
  4. Click Ban User.

While banned, the person sees "You are banned from this community" with your reason and when access comes back (or that the ban is permanent) across the feed, channels, members, events, chats, live rooms and leaderboards. They can't post, comment or reply.

  • Purchased content stays theirs. The ban notice tells them they can still open what they bought.
  • A timed ban ends by itself. To end one early, use Unban Author on one of their posts.
  • There's no email. The member finds out when they next open the community.
  • Banning again replaces the old ban — the new reason and time apply from that moment.
  • Bans are tied to the person's account in this community, not to an IP address or email.
  • You can't ban yourself, and admins can't be banned.

Blocking someone from buying

A separate block stops a person from making further purchases in your community, without banning them. On the person's profile, open the admin … menu → Ban all future purchases. At checkout they're told they can't buy anything else here. Unban all future purchases lifts it.

Things worth knowing

  • Removing a member isn't a ban. They can ask to join again. See Members & join requests.
  • Rules aren't punishments. Limits on who may post, comment or open a channel are set by level or tags in Rules, for everyone at once — see Badges, rules & paid access.
  • There's no notification to the author when you approve, decline or delete their post.
