Dropbox connector
Let your site work with your Dropbox — create folders, list and search files, make share links, and save files from a URL.
Connect your Dropbox so your site can work with its contents: create folders, list and search files, generate share links, save a file into Dropbox from a URL, and move, copy, or delete files. Your credentials stay encrypted on the server, so nothing reaches your site's code.
Setup
You need a Dropbox app of your own (create one at dropbox.com/developers/apps). Then, in Settings → Connectors → Dropbox:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| App key (secret) | Your app's Settings page → App key. |
| App secret (secret) | The same page → App secret (click Show). |
| Refresh token (secret) | A long-lived token for offline access. You get it once by authorizing your app with offline access and exchanging the code Dropbox gives you; the field's hint walks through the exact steps. |
Example prompts
Describe it in chat — no special syntax needed:
- "create a folder in my Dropbox for each new client who submits the onboarding form"
- "show a list of the files in my Dropbox Downloads folder with share links"
- "save the file a visitor links in the form into my Dropbox"
- "add a search box that finds files in my Dropbox"
Genesis maps each request to the right Dropbox call for you.
Use cases
- A client onboarding flow that sets up a folder per client.
- A downloads page with public share links to your files.
- Collecting files from a URL straight into your Dropbox.
Things worth knowing
- Everything the site does runs as your Dropbox account — anything the site lists or shares comes from your files, so ask for exactly the folders you want exposed.
- Share links Genesis creates are public: anyone with the link can open the file.
- Republish your site after configuring so the live site picks up the connector.
