AWS S3 connector
List, upload, and download files in an S3 bucket from your site — using temporary signed links so your keys never reach the browser.
List, upload, and download files in an Amazon S3 bucket from your site. Uploads and downloads use temporary signed links, so your AWS keys stay on the server.
Setup
In Settings → Connectors → AWS S3:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Bucket | Your S3 bucket name. |
| Region | The bucket's AWS region. |
| Access Key ID (secret) + Secret Access Key (secret) | An IAM user's credentials with S3 permissions. |
| Scope | Read only or Read & write (write enables uploads). |
For browser uploads/downloads to work, set the bucket's CORS to allow your site — Genesis offers a one-click action for this in the connector's settings.
Example prompts
Just describe what you want — no special syntax needed:
- "Build a downloads page that lists every file in my S3 bucket."
- "Let visitors upload an image straight to my S3 bucket."
- "Show a gallery of the photos in my S3 bucket with download buttons."
Use cases
- A file/downloads page that lists bucket contents.
- Direct uploads from visitors (read & write scope) via signed links.
- A media gallery backed by your own storage.
Note
Use Read only scope unless you specifically need visitor uploads. Republish your site after configuring.
