ESTAGE Rooms

Updated October 25, 2026

The ESTAGE desktop app for calls and live shows — getting it, joining and hosting a room, the lobby, viewers, screen sharing, recording and Go live, and how ESTAGE Rooms Signature adds a video room to booked meetings.

ESTAGE Rooms is the ESTAGE desktop app for video calls and live shows. It hosts rooms with camera, sound and screen sharing in a window of its own, so a call isn't a browser tab competing for the camera.

What it does

  • Video calls — a native camera pipeline with background blur and touch-up, and clean sound.
  • Screen sharing — share a window or the whole screen with everyone in the room.
  • Recording and going live — record the room into your ESTAGE Video library, or stream it to your community as a live post.

Getting the app

Download it at genesis.estage.com/download/rooms. It's also listed on genesis.estage.com/download with the other ESTAGE apps — in Genesis, open Downloads in the header menu. The app is free to download.

The page detects your computer and puts the matching build under the main button. The others are under Other computers.

Build Runs on
Mac — Apple Silicon M1 or newer, macOS 12 or later
Mac — Intel Intel Macs, macOS 12 or later
Windows — any PC Intel, AMD or ARM, Windows 10 or later
Windows — 64-bit Intel or AMD, Windows 10 or later
Windows — ARM Snapdragon and other ARM PCs

To install:

  • Mac — open the disk image and drag ESTAGE Room (the app's name, without the s) to Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.
  • Windows — run the installer. It isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen warns the first time: choose More info, then Run anyway.

There's no Linux build.

Joining a room

Guests don't need the app. Someone with an invite link opens it in their browser and joins there. The app is for hosting rooms, and for joining them with the full camera and screen-sharing toolkit.

In the app, type the room's code or paste the link. Joining needs no account: enter your name, check your camera and microphone on the pre-join screen, and knock. You wait there until the host lets you in.

Hosting a room

Start a room needs your ESTAGE account: sign in, pick the community the room belongs to, and start. Rooms are private — the link lets people knock, it doesn't let them walk in.

  • Invite — copy the link or the code and send it. Guests who knock appear as a red count on People and as a toast with Admit / Deny. Admit all lets the whole queue in.
  • People — mute someone, or remove them from the room.
  • Open to viewers — a second link for people who only watch, like a webinar. Viewers don't take a seat in the room, don't need a camera or microphone, and can number in the hundreds.

In the call

Share your screen A window or a whole display, in full quality
Draw on the shared screen Mark up what you're showing; everyone sees the strokes
Background and touch-up Blur the background (or blur it strongly), put a picture behind you, and touch up your appearance. These are saved as preferences, so the next room starts with them on
Record The recording goes to your ESTAGE Video library. Each room in the app's list shows its recordings — Processing… until the video is ready
Go live Stream the room to your community as a live post. The audience watches there, and from the app you run that post's chat, show a poll, or pin a call-to-action button

ESTAGE Rooms Signature and booked meetings

ESTAGE Rooms Signature is the paid product that puts an ESTAGE video room behind your booked meetings. With it, a meeting type can use ESTAGE video room as its location: each confirmed booking gets its own private room, and the invitee joins by the link in their confirmation — no account needed.

You have Signature if either of these is true for the project owner's account:

  • You bought one of the ESTAGE plans it's included with.
  • You bought the ESTAGE Room Signature listing in the Marketplace. If you already own Signature through a plan, the listing shows Included and installs at no charge.

Things worth knowing

  • Signature is checked when each booking is confirmed. If it lapses — a refund, a cancellation, an expired plan — meetings that use the ESTAGE video room are still booked, but get the meeting type's fallback link instead of a room. Set a fallback link on every meeting type that uses the room.
  • Without Signature, the room can't be chosen as a meeting location, and the meeting booking panel in the builder warns "Estage Rooms is not on your account." when a meeting type still uses it. See Meeting booking.
  • The app updates itself. A new version downloads quietly and is in place the next time you open the app — it never restarts in the middle of a call. The download page always offers the latest published version, and a link copied from it keeps pointing at the latest build.
  • Mac: camera, microphone or screen sharing doesn't work. Allow ESTAGE Room under System Settings › Privacy & Security (Camera, Microphone, Screen & System Audio Recording), then quit and reopen the app.
  • A guest can't get in. They are probably waiting in the lobby — open People and admit them.
  • Something went wrong on Windows. Send support the log at %APPDATA%\estage-room\logs\main.log.
