Your account in a community
Your profile, handle and theme in a community, your notifications, two-factor authentication, and your own orders and subscriptions there.
Every member of a community — admins included — has an Account section in its settings: how you appear to other members, how you protect your sign-in, and what you've bought there.
Open the menu under your avatar and choose Settings. The Account card on the left has Profile Settings, Security and Billing. Members see only this card; admins see it above the admin settings.
Your profile in this community
Your profile belongs to this community. If you're a member of several, each has its own profile, so you can use a different handle, bio or cover in each.
Open Profile Settings:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Photo | Change photo uploads a new one, cropped square. It's saved as soon as you upload it. |
| Cover | The banner on your profile page. Best at 1600 × 360 px; wider images are cropped to fit. |
| @ Handle | Your @name in this community. It must be unique here: if someone already has it, you see "Handle already exists." |
| Name | The name members see on your posts and comments. |
| Bio | A few lines about you, shown on your profile. |
| Location | Shown on your profile. |
| Social Links | Website, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and LinkedIn. Fill in the ones you want on your profile. |
| Theme | Select theme: Community default (follows whatever the admin sets), Light Theme, Dark Theme, or one of the community's own themes. |
Change what you need, then select Save changes in the bar at the bottom (Discard undoes your edits). The theme previews as soon as you pick it but is only kept once you save.
No themes to choose from?
If the admin has set one theme for everyone, the Theme section says "This community uses one theme for everyone, set by its admin." and there's nothing to choose. Admins set this with Use the default theme for everyone under Styles — see Look, navigation & about page.
View profile in the avatar menu shows your profile the way other members see it — see Member profiles.
Leaving the community
Members (not admins) have Delete Profile at the bottom of Profile Settings.
- Select Delete Profile.
- Type your email address to confirm.
- Select Delete Profile.
Caution
This removes you from this community together with your purchases, activity and tags there, and it can't be undone. Your ESTAGE account and your profiles in other communities stay as they are.
Notifications
The bell (Notifications) in the top bar shows what's happened since you last looked; on a phone, it's in the bottom menu. A number on the bell counts your unread notifications.
Open the bell to see the latest few. Select one to go straight to it — the post, the comment, the story, your profile — and it's marked as read.
| You're notified when | Goes to |
|---|---|
| Someone you follow publishes a new post | The post |
| Someone comments on your post, or replies to your comment | The comment |
| Someone mentions you in a post, a comment or a story | Where they mentioned you |
| You unlock an achievement | Your profile |
| Your daily streak is about to break | The feed — post or react that day to keep it |
| Someone asks to join a channel (the community owner only) | The waiting requests in Members |
Mark all as read clears the list. When you have more than fit in the bell, Show N notifications opens them all in one window, with its own Mark all as read.
New messages aren't in the bell — they're counted on the Messages icon instead. See Messages and calls.
Two-factor authentication
Security adds a second step when you sign in: after your password, you enter a one-time code. There are two methods, and you can turn on either or both.
| Method | Where the code comes from |
|---|---|
| Authenticator App (Recommended) | Google Authenticator or any other authenticator app — a 6-digit code |
| Email Address | A 4-digit code sent to your sign-in email |
The community's admin can require 2FA for everyone, in which case you're asked to set up a method when you sign in — see General settings.
Turning on the authenticator app
- Open Security and, on Authenticator App (Recommended), select Enable.
- Scan the QR code with your app, or type in the code shown under it.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows, then select Verify.
- Save your recovery codes — Copy or Download — somewhere safe, then select Finish.
Tip
Keep the recovery codes outside your phone. If you lose access to your authenticator app, select Use a recovery code when you're asked for the sign-in code. Each recovery code works once.
Turning on email codes
- On Email Address, select Enable. The email is your sign-in address and can't be changed here.
- Select Send Code.
- Enter the 4-digit code from the email and select Verify.
Turning a method off
Select Disable on the method:
- Authenticator app — enter the 6-digit code from your app and your Password, then select Disable method. Lost the app? Select Use recovery code and enter a Recovery Key with your password instead.
- Email Address — enter your Password and select Disable method.
Your orders and subscriptions
Billing (headed Billing & Orders) lists what you've bought in this community. It's your own purchases, not the community's sales.
- Active subscriptions — each with its price, how often it renews, and the next renewal date.
- Order history — every order with its Product, Amount, Status and Date, and a Download link under Invoice when an invoice exists. Ten orders show per page.
Cancelling a subscription
- Under Active subscriptions, select Cancel next to the subscription.
- Type
CANCELto confirm. - Select Confirm cancel. Keep subscription backs out.
You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for; after that it doesn't renew.
Things worth knowing
- You sign in with your ESTAGE account's email and password. A community may have its own password, different from your ESTAGE account's — see Joining and signing in. If you've forgotten your password, use Forgot Password? on the community's sign-in form. If you also work in Genesis, you change them in Profile and security.
- A profile change applies in this community only. Your name and photo in Genesis, and in other communities, don't change with it.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. It doesn't end the period you've already paid for.
