Post messages from your site to a **Slack** channel through an Incoming Webhook. Your team sees
new leads, form submissions and orders where it already works.

## Setup

In **Settings → Connectors → Slack**:

| Field | What to enter |
| --- | --- |
| **Incoming Webhook URL** *(secret)* | A Slack Incoming Webhook URL (starts `https://hooks.slack.com/services/`). |

To get the URL:

1. In Slack's app dashboard, create an app for your workspace (or open one you already have).
2. Open **Incoming Webhooks** and turn them on.
3. Select **Add New Webhook to Workspace**, pick the channel to post to, and allow it.
4. Copy the webhook URL and paste it into the field.

The URL itself is the credential — anyone holding it can post to that channel, so treat it like a
password. It is encrypted on the server and never appears in your site.

## Example prompts

Describe the trigger in chat — no special syntax needed — and Genesis wires the Slack call
into it:

- *"post every new lead to my team channel"*
- *"post the name, email and message to Slack when someone submits the contact form"*
- *"notify Slack when an order is completed — include the product and total"*

## Formatting the message

Messages use Slack's own formatting: `*bold*`, `_italic_`, `` `code` `` and links written as
`<https://example.com|label>`. Genesis composes the message with the real values from the form
or order.

## Use cases

- **Lead alerts** in a sales channel.
- **Order notifications** your team watches.
- A **message on any action**, such as a button click or a sign-up.

## Things worth knowing

- **The channel is fixed by the webhook.** To post somewhere else, create a webhook for that
channel and save the new URL.
- **Forms can notify Slack without chat.** In a form's settings, **Also notify in** sends each new
submission to Slack once the connector is connected. See [Forms](https://support.estage.com/visual-editor-forms).
- Republish your site after configuring so the live site picks up the connector.
