Connect an **Airtable** base so your site shows its content — a catalog, a directory, a schedule, a
portfolio — and adds records to it from forms. Genesis maps your data to the fields your table
actually has, so there are no fixed columns to set up.

## Setup

In **Settings → Connectors → Airtable**:

| Field | What to enter |
| --- | --- |
| **Personal access token** *(secret)* | An Airtable personal access token (starts `pat`). |
| **Base ID** | The ID of the base, starting with `app` — it's in the base's URL (`airtable.com/appXXXX/…`). |
| **Default table (optional)** | The table to use when you don't name one in chat. The table name as shown in Airtable works. |

To create the token:

1. Open `airtable.com/create/tokens` and select **Create token**.
2. Add only the scopes the site needs: `data.records:read` to show records, `data.records:write`
to add them, and `schema.bases:read` so Genesis can see your field names.
3. Under access, add **only** the base this site uses.
4. Create the token and copy it.

Whatever the token can do, the site can do — keep its scopes and bases as narrow as possible. Your
token is encrypted on the server and never appears in your site.

## Example prompts

Describe it in chat — no special syntax needed:

- *"show the records from my base as a catalog"*
- *"list my Events table on the schedule page, sorted by date"*
- *"show only the projects marked Published"*
- *"save each contact-form submission as a new row in my Leads table"*

Genesis can read the base's tables first, so it uses your real field names.

## Use cases

- A **catalog or directory** your team updates in Airtable.
- A **schedule or portfolio** that stays current without republishing content.
- A **lead table** that fills from your forms.

## Things worth knowing

- **Read and add only.** The site can show records and add new ones; it can't edit or delete rows
  in your base.
- **Single-select and linked fields** only accept values that already exist in Airtable — use a
plain text field for free text from a form.
- Republish your site after configuring so the live site picks up the connector.
