Some content in an ESTAGE hub community is offered for **deploying**: you copy it into your own
community, where your members use it as if you had built it. Courses, resources, opportunities and
videos can be deployed. The hub decides which items are offered and who may take them; you decide
where the copy lands.

You deploy from the hub, as a member of it, and the copy appears in your community under
**The Vault**.

## Before you start

- **Be a member of the hub** and meet the access the hub has set for the item, such as the licence
  or product it requires.
- **Hold the right permission in your community.** The copy is written into your community, so you
need **Bring in & sync content from another community** (under **Amplify** in
[roles](https://support.estage.com/community-roles)) there. As the owner you have it already.
- **Have your community's Secret key.** In your community, open **Settings → Community Settings →
General Settings** and copy the **Secret key** — see
[General settings](https://support.estage.com/community-general-settings#community-identity). Keep it to yourself and the
people who run the community with you.

## Deploying an item

1. In the hub, find the course, resource, opportunity or video.
2. Open the item's menu (the **…** on its card) and choose **Deploy Course**, **Deploy Resource**,
**Deploy Opportunity** or **Deploy Video**. The option only appears on items the hub offers for
   deploying.
3. Paste your Secret key into **Target Secret Key**. If you can't find it, **Where can I find the
Secret Key?** shows where it lives.
4. Select **Deploy Course** (or **Deploy Resource**, **Deploy Opportunity**, **Deploy Video**).

When it works you see *"Course Deployed!"* (or the matching item) and the copy is in your community.

| What you see | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| **Course Already Exists** (or the matching item) | You deployed this item into that community before. **Go to Existing Course** opens your copy. Each item is copied once per community. |
| **Project Not Found** | No community has that Secret key. Check it and select **Try Again**. |
| **Access Restricted** | You don't meet the hub's access for this item — *"Please make sure that you have a valid license for this product."* |
| **Deployment Failed** | Something stopped the copy, such as your community having reached its limit of courses or categories. The message says what. |

## What gets copied

| Item | What arrives in your community |
| --- | --- |
| **Course** | The course with all its modules and lessons. A challenge comes with all its days. |
| **Opportunity** | The opportunity with its modules and lessons. |
| **Resource** | The resource. |
| **Video** | The video, with its title and description, in your video library. |

Every copy is filed under a category named **The Vault**, which ESTAGE creates in your community the
first time you deploy something of that kind. Copies are added to the main channel. You can move
them to other [channels](https://support.estage.com/community-channels) afterwards, like any of your own content.

Find copied courses on [Courses](https://support.estage.com/community-courses), and resources, opportunities and videos on
their own pages — see [Resources, videos & opportunities](https://support.estage.com/community-library).

## Getting the hub's later changes

When the hub updates the original course, opportunity or resource, your copy doesn't change by
itself. To pull in the changes:

1. In your community, open the copy's menu and choose **Check for Updates**.
2. ESTAGE compares your copy with the original.
   - Nothing new: *"You are up to date!"*
   - New or changed items are brought in, and **Synchronization Complete** shows how many were
     **Updated** and **Skipped**.
3. If you changed something in your copy that the hub has also changed, you see **Conflicts
   Detected**. For each item, choose:
   - **Keep Mine** — keep your version and ignore this update.
   - **Overwrite** — take the hub's version. Your edits to that item are lost.

**Keep All Mine** and **Update All** set every item at once.
4. Select **Apply Changes**.

> **Caution**
>
> **Overwrite** replaces your version of that item with the hub's. Your own edits to it are lost and
> can't be brought back — choose **Keep Mine** for anything you've customised.

For a course or opportunity, updates are module by module and lesson by lesson: new ones are
added, changed ones are updated, and the ones you didn't touch never conflict. A resource is
updated as a whole.

**Check for Updates** needs the same **Bring in & sync content from another community**
permission.

> **Note**
>
> Videos have no **Check for Updates**: a deployed video stays as it was copied. To get a newer
> version, delete your copy and deploy the video again.

## Things worth knowing

- **Removing something in the hub doesn't remove it from your copy.** Updates add and change; they
never delete a module or lesson you already have.
- **Overwriting a resource or opportunity puts it back in The Vault**, even if you had moved it to
  another category.
- **A copy can't be deployed again.** Deploy options only appear on the hub's originals, not on
  copies in your community.
- **Copies count toward your limits** — up to 100 courses per community, for example
  ([Courses](https://support.estage.com/community-courses#things-worth-knowing)).
- **Deleting a copy is the same as deleting your own content**: it disappears for your members.
You can deploy the item again from the hub afterwards.
