# Community analytics

> Read how your community is doing — members, activity and engagement, growth and onboarding, top and unanswered posts, and which members are at risk.

**Analytics** shows how your community is growing and how active it is, and points out what needs
attention: posts nobody answered, new members who never started, regulars going quiet. Check it
weekly to see what's working and who needs a nudge.

Open **Settings → Analytics**. There are four tabs: **Overview**, **Growth**, **Content** and
**Members**.

## Before you start

- **Be an admin, or hold the right permission.** **View analytics** in
  [roles](https://support.estage.com/community-roles) shows all four tabs.

## Choosing the period

Every tab has a period picker: **Last day**, **Last week**, **Last month**, **Last quarter**,
**Last year** or a **Custom Range** — plus **All time** on Overview, Content and Members, where it's
the default. Figures for a set period are compared with the previous period of the same length.

## Overview

| Figure | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Members** | Approved members |
| **New members** | Joined in the period |
| **Active members** | Did anything in the period |
| **Engagement rate** | Active members out of all members |
| **Posts**, **Comments** | Published in the period |

Below them: daily, weekly and monthly active members (DAU, WAU, MAU), reactions, post views and
members who left.

Overview also raises alerts, for example:

- posts without a reply for over 24 hours,
- new members who joined this week but haven't done anything yet,
- a drop in content activity against the previous period.

## Growth

- **New members** and **Active members** over time.
- **Invites** — members who joined through an invite link, and referred members in total.
- **Onboarding funnel** (all time) — how many members completed their profile, made a first
  reaction, a first comment, a first post, and finished the checklist.

> Daily charts fill in overnight, so a brand-new community shows "No daily data yet" at first. Check
> back the next day.

## Content

Follows the channel you're in.

- **Posts without a reply** — reply to them before the author gives up.
- **Top posts** — by reactions, comments and views.
- **Activity by hour (UTC)** — when your members are around, useful for timing posts and lives.

## Members

Members are sorted into segments:

| Segment | Who's in it |
| --- | --- |
| **Core** | Active on 3 or more days in the last week |
| **Regular** | Did something within the last two weeks |
| **At risk** | Was active, but activity dropped to less than half of the week before |
| **Dormant** | No actions or post views for 14+ days |
| **New, inactive** | Joined this week and hasn't done anything yet — worth a welcome |

Click a segment to list its members, with their posts, stories, comments, reactions, post views,
streak, points and when they were last active. Sort by any of those figures.

## Things worth knowing

- **There's no export.** Analytics are read on screen only.
- Times in **Activity by hour** are UTC, not your local time.
